A superstore held a party at Fratton Park to mark the beginning of its partnership with charity Sam’s Haven.

Sainsbury’s in London Road, Portsmouth presented the charity with a cheque for the £195 raised so far at a celebration put on for children.

Sam’s Haven provides the families of youngsters at Queen Alexandra Hospital with a short break in a caravan on a Haven site in Chichester.

It was founded by Louise and Paul Merrick, of Denmead, and is named after their son Sam, who has spent a lot of time at QA.

The charity was nominated by staff and voted for by customers in June.It will receive support from the store over the next year.
