A NEW recycling centre for household waste opens its gates today.

Almost £1m has been spent by Hampshire County Council on creating a larger and more efficient centre for the Havant area.

The new facility is located off Harts Farm Way next to the old site, which closed yesterday.

Site users will no longer have to climb up steps because the bins are set at the lower level.

Capacity has been increased from six bins to 14 bins and there are 19 parking spaces.
