What was once a busy store is nothing but a pile of rubble protected by wooden boards.

Farther up the street, the Monarch public house serves beer no more.

A discount store is now on the site of the Monarch pub.

The closed store on the corner of Eden Street tells its own sad tale.

For this was once a thriving street full of market traders from one end to the other.

It’s a ghost of its former self and the barrow-boys there are these days ply their trade around the corner in Commercial Road.
