THE Met Office has issued an amber warning for the south as strong winds and heavy rain is forecast this morning.

Periods of heaving rain, including some torrential downpours, are likely to head south from the West Midlands into central southern England before clearing northwards.

A months rainfall is expected to hit the region over the next 24 hours.
