University of Portsmouth film graduates have been nominated for two prestigious industry awards for their black and white short film.

Lawrence Fish, Ben Cook and Simon Shergold’s Automated Teller Man film has been shortlisted for both the Guild of Television Cameraman Bill Vinten University Prize and the 2015 Long Beach International Film Festival.

The film was produced as part of the trio’s fiction module, and is the first film which the University has submitted to any competitions like this.

Principal lecturer in video, film and broadcasting, Ben Thompson over saw the project.

He said: ‘This is the first year we have entered these awards, so I’m very pleased one of our films has been shortlisted.

‘We are very proud of the high quality of our film work and of our students’ commitment and talent.’

Since graduating the trio aim to start up their own production company.
