Students at St Vincent College in Gosport are looking forward to summer fun after a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award grant funded kit including tents, first aid kits, roll mats, stoves and lots more.

It means they can now experience adventures on land or sea with everything they need to succeed.

Over the summer holidays those involved with Duke of Edinburgh Enrichment activities will put the equipment to use by practicing setting up for expeditions and taking full advantage of the college’s unique on-campus waterfront.
With access to boats provided by Oarsome Chance, students will row from the creek into Portsmouth Harbour as part of a regular DofE exercise, which is a great experience and really enjoyed by all who take part.
Oarsome Chance is all about bringing change for disadvantaged young people in the Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant areas by using the powerful incentive of sport in combination with vocational training.
The college is delighted to have Oarsome Chance on site as it has opened up many doors for students.
The college has Enrichment options across all subjects, which opens up the pathway for students to take on courses they may not take as part of their mainstream learning programme and gives them a wider knowledge base. Other activities include Sign Language, Football, Dance and Community Projects.
If you’re thinking of joining St Vincent College and would like to know more about the Enrichment opportunities, please message via the college’s social media pages or call (023) 9258 8311.
