SUELLA FERNANDES: It was a difficult task choosing the winner

SCHOOLCHILDREN in Fareham have been getting creative as they competed to design this year's parliamentary Christmas card for me.

I invited local pupils to take part in my second Christmas card competition and design a card that I will send out to hundreds of people across Fareham.

Nearly 100 youngsters got involved from schools across the area.

I chose the winning entry, which was submitted by Ryan Couzens of Year 3 at St Francis School in Heathfield, Fareham.

The winning design depicts a snowman complete with a carrot nose, red glittery hat, and yellow scarf and different materials were used to create the card.

Ryan will now receive a special House of Commons certificate and a prize.

This is the second year I have asked primary schools to design my Christmas card.

I am always struck by the creativity and variety of the cards.

I was really impressed again this year with the quality of the entries, it was a difficult task choosing just one winner.

Ryan’s card really stood out for me and I am delighted that his work will now be seen by people, organisations and businesses across Fareham.

He deserves to be very proud of himself.

I’m also very grateful to Nettl, who have done an excellent job producing the card.

We have such great local businesses here in Fareham, and I am proud to partner with them.
