Superfan launches bid to meet her idol Gary Barlow in Gosport

Now, Vicky Hall is hoping singer Gary Barlow will give her the best present ever by appearing at a party to celebrate her 30th birthday.

The 29-year-old from Gosport has been a fan of the band since she was four, having followed in her mum’s footsteps.

Together, Vicky and her mum Karen Hall have seen the boys perform almost 20 times and have queued in the cold to buy tickets and to get to the front of the stage to watch them perform.

Gary, who has surprised several couples by appearing at their wedding receptions, is planning to repeat the feat by singing at parties for fans celebrating milestone birthdays.

Vicky, from Stocker Place in Bridgemary, is asking people to back her campaign to meet her idol at her birthday party in December.

‘We have been campaigning like crazy for a month now,’ she said.

‘It would mean the absolute world. I have liked Take That probably since before I knew how to talk properly. If it happened I would probably cry and faint.

‘I have been obsessed with Take That since I was about four or five. I had quilt covers and curtains and posters all over the walls.’

As part of her campaign, Vicky has written poems, made banners and made a video to describe her life as a Take That fan. And she sent Gary a bag of treats, which he received and thanked her for via Twitter.

‘I burst into tears, I was so excited,’ she said. ‘I now know that he has seen the campaign and has got the stuff that I sent him.’

She first saw her idols live when she was just eight years old in 1995 – and she was eager to snap up tickets when the band got back together 10 years later.

‘To have him at my 30th birthday party after all these years would be absolutely brilliant,’ she added.

In 2014, Vicky and Karen queued outside the BBC Radio 2 studios where Take That were due to premiere their new song, and they met the band.

‘It’s really nice that my mum and I have done all this together. It’s so much fun,’ she said.
