A CASINO firm has named Portsmouth the luckiest city in the UK.

Maria Casinos claims it has winners in Portsmouth than anywhere else in the country, ahead of Chichester, which came in fifth, and Southampton, which was 11th.

In contrast, Midlands cities like Lichfield, Coventry and Worcester were all ranked amongst the unluckiest cities.

The Yorkshire city of Ripon was named the unluckiest place in the country.

The casino said it
considered factors such as population, and gauged how lucky people in different cities felt by looking at their comments on Twitter,
when coming to its conclusions.
