THE mayor of Fareham is organising a swimathon to raise money for his charities.
Councillor Trevor Cartwright wants people to swim at least 34 miles between them – the equivalent of swimming the boundary of Fareham.
Cllr Cartwright said: ‘The swimathon suits all levels of fitness, ability and age, and people can choose to swim on their own or as part of a team.’
All money raised will go to the mayor’s three chosen charities which are Toe in the Water, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Warsash Wasps SFC.
The swimathon will take place at the Spirit health club at the Holiday Inn in Titchfield on Sunday, February 5 between midday and 5pm.
Anyone who pledges their lengths will be allocated a time slot.
Anybody who can’t take part on the day can still pledge their lengths and complete the swim in a pool of their choice.
