FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a teenager trapped in an electricity sub station.

Crews from Southsea fire station were called to Western Parade, Southsea, just after 3.30pm yesterday.

A man believed to be 18 years old had climbed over the wall of the sub station – which has no roof – to retrieve a football.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the man, but warn others to not climb over.

Watch manager Pete Scott said: ‘We have had calls to people jumping over the wall to the sub station before.

‘People use trees and close-by roofs to climb into the station.

‘What they don’t realise is it’s a 25ft drop, and there’s nothing to help them get back out. It’s very dangerous – there’s a sign that warns people, yet it happens.’
