Thankful mum's praise for man who ran 100 miles for her ill son

Andy Pittman, pictured, ran 100 miles last weekend to raise cash for Oscar Kerley, five, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Stunned Jenna Kerley, Oscar’s mum, said she was amazed by Andy’s feat.

The 27-year-old, of Cosham, said: ‘It’s amazing, I don’t know how he’s done it.

‘He’s a family friend. Some people are so nice and he’s just one of those people that will do anything for anybody.’

Oscar was diagnosed last August. He was undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but was allowed to return home four weeks ago and his family are waiting to get the results of tests to find out what is next for him.

Jenna added: ‘He’s doing really well, he’s been in isolation for the past few months.

‘It’s good being back and having his toys in his room and being back at school.

‘He’s been so brave with the radiotherapy and chemotherapy.’

Andy completed the run at Samphire Hoe, a nature reserve near Dover, last Saturday. The 40-year-old, of Coronation Road, Waterlooville, ran 27 laps of the course, cheered on by his partner, Sophie Cresswell, who joined him for 39 miles. He completed it in 26hrs 20mins.
