IT’S mayor-making on Wednesday, May 15, which means I’ve now completed two-thirds of my mayoral year.

I look back on it with a great deal of pride and throughout I’ve been supported by my mayoress Bobbie.

We’re thoroughly enjoying doing what we do and it’s a fantastic honour. I’ve been running a blog since I became mayor and I’ve had nearly 70,000 hits to date.

Every mayoral event that I do goes on my blog and what makes it worthwhile is that I know many people are looking at it. I will carry on keeping it up to date and recording every mayoral event that I go to this year.

I think 2012 will be very difficult to follow because we had the Diamond Jubilee, it was the Olympics, it was the Falklands 30th, we just had so much going on. This year will be slightly quieter, more a normal year but there are plenty of events coming up.

On Friday, February 1 there will be the Royal Marines Band Collingwood service at St Mary’s Church in Alverstoke.

If you want a military band and you want the best then you get the Royal Marines.

And importantly, the money will be shared equally between my mayoral charities and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

There are so many good causes out there it’s going to be difficult choosing the ones we’re going to support.

It was a huge success when Councillor Chris Carter did it in his mayoral year and ticket sales are going nicely already.

Then in May we have the twinning weekend, which I’m looking forward to because I’ll be hosting golfers from Royan in France.
