These stars have been announced to appear at Portsmouth Comic Con 2019

AFTER attracting hundreds of revellers with its debut this year, organisers of Portsmouth Comic Con has announced new faces set to appear when it returns in 2019.

The Guildhall spectacular will take over the city centre once again on May 4 and 5 next year. 

Among those named to appear is British DC Comics artist Liam Sharp, who is currently working on the superhero series The Green Lantern with writer Grant Morrison.

A writer himself, the 50-year-old was an apprentice to British comic artist Don Lawrence and cut his teeth working for the weekly science fiction magazine 2000AD.

From there he moved to Marvel UK '“ where he drew Death's Head II '“ and went on to draw books including Uncanny X-Men, Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man and Man-Thing. 

In 2004 Sharp set up a publishing company, Mam Tor, before returning to DC, where he drew the six-issue The Brave and The Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman series this year. 

Set to appear alongside him is Clem So, Portsmouth Comic Con's first guest of the screen.

He has worked on more than 50 feature films to date '“ including many in the Star Wars franchise, Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spectre, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and has appeared in numerous TV shows including Doctor Who and Sherlock.

Nick Coles, event producer at Portsmouth Guildhall, said: '˜After an incredibly successful inaugural Portsmouth Comic Con, we are well into preparations for the 2019 edition and we are very pleased to be adding more incredible international guests to the line-up.

'˜The great thing about Comic Con is that it has something for everyone '“ for fans of comic books and blockbuster films.

'˜We also have a big local focus. There's exciting things happening with our new partnership with GoGeek Events and the University of Portsmouth.

'˜Game Over and the Steampunk Society are also involved again. We can't wait!'

Roy Thomas, Steve Englehart and The Etherington Brothers have already been announced for Portsmouth Comic Con 2019.
