A LEISURE centre raised more than £3,000 for a good cause through a month-long fundaising campaign.
Fareham Leisure Centre, which is operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Fareham Borough Council, held a month-long charity campaign throughout September, which was also Anthony Nolan Awareness Month.
As part of the initiative, the group raised money for the trust, a charity that matches individuals willing to donate blood stem cells or bone marrow to those living with blood disease who need lifesaving transplants.
In Fareham, more than 50 members, friends and colleagues participated in a triathlon activity challenge where they cycled, ran and rowed at least 1km. There was also a swimming challenge, in which people were challenged to swim as many lengths as possible in 30 minutes.
Many other fundraising activities took place including children’s activities and group exercise sessions.
The Fareham centre raised £3,400 and Everyone Active raised £63,000 nationwide.
