The winter storms in recent weeks have led to a variety of sealife coming up with the tide at Southsea and Hayling Island.

John Broomhead, of Goldring Close, Hayling Island, has taken pictures of some unusual jellyfish on Hayling beach.

He said: ‘It was really funny to see my two little Cavalier King Charles dogs – Lillie and Betsy – picking them up by their sails and running around with the body of the jellyfish bouncing around under their noses. They looked like they had large purple lips!’

One of the tiny creatures is believed to be ‘Sea Raft’ jellyfish. Mr Broomhead also took a picture of creatures attached to a buoy and has emailed marine experts to find out what they are.
