WOMEN can enter this year’s Race for Life from today.

The annual fundraiser for Cancer Research UK takes place on Sunday, July 22.

Women and girls of all ages are being asked to join forces for the event which starts on Clarence Esplanade on Southsea Common.

Women can choose whether to walk, jog or run the 5k or 10k route.

Suzi Dent, Cancer Research UK’s south east events manager, said: ‘We are very grateful to everyone who took part in Race for Life in Portsmouth last year and in the past.

‘Thanks to them we have been able to fund much-needed research.

‘But the battle against cancer never stops and for this reason we need them to return to the fight in 2012 and bring new recruits with them.’

Last year 9,159 women took part and raised £503,285.

This year organisers want 9,350 participants to help raise £478,405 for research.

Women can take part in groups or individually.
