Tough conditions for Gosport and Portsmouth skippers in yacht race

FICKLE winds and fog have made racing conditions difficult in the Clipper Round the World Yacht race.

Skippers Greg Miller and Max Stunell, from Gosport and Portsmouth respectively, and crew member Mel Thompson, from North End, are making slow progress in the race to Qingdao.

Mel’s Great Britain yacht sits in fourth while PSP Logistics, led by Max, is ninth. He said: ‘The wind gods are being fickle again and it seems even the current has stopped running in our favour. But it seems to be fleet wide fortunately.’

The crews should start to reach China by March 10.
