Tower has third best view in Britain

THE Spinnaker Tower has been named as having the third best view in the UK.

The floor-to-ceiling window in the tower’s Sky Deck – 170m above Portsmouth Harbour – was voted in the top three of MyGlazing.com’s annual Window with a View competition.

It lost out to the floor window in the walkways at Tower Bridge in London, which won the top prize, and The Lighthouse gallery in Glasgow, which came in second place.

The three attractions were chosen from the 11 announced as regional winners in August.

Thousands of votes were cast by members of the public as part of the competition, which aims to shine a light on the UK’s tourism industry and raise awareness of the important of modern, energy-efficient glazing.

James Lee, director of marketing at MyGlazing.com, said: ‘On behalf of everyone involved in the competition, I’d like to offer my congratulations to Portsmouth’s Emirates Spinnaker Tower.

‘The stunning window, which is higher than the London Eye, Blackpool Tower and Big Ben, is a national icon for Britain.
