Anger after train delays on hottest day of the year

ANGRY passengers vented their frustration at a train company after delays on the hottest day of the year.

Major disruption besieged South West Trains yesterday after a signal fault and electricity supply failure affected services from London to Fareham and Southampton.

There were delays of 90 minutes and some services were diverted to Havant.

And there were chaotic scenes at London Waterloo as hundreds of people were left stranded and Portsmouth passengers struggled to get to their platforms.

Benedict Townsend tweeted: ‘South West Trains get delays when it’s cold, it snows and when it rains and now it’s the hottest day of the year and – they have delays too.’

Matthew Gavin tweeted: ‘How bad does the service on South West Trains have to get before action is taken? Never on time. I want my money back.’

The company apologised for the disruption.
