Body found in Chichester during search for missing Isle of Wight woman

THE FAMILY of a missing woman have been informed of the discovery of a body in Chichester.

Police have confirmed a woman’s body was found at the tide edge of Bosham Quay in Chichester on Saturday evening.

Relatives of Joanna Orpin from the Isle of Wight, who has been missing since last Tuesday, have been told about the discovery.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘Yesterday officers searching for a missing woman from the Isle of Wight were made aware of the discovery of a body in Sussex.

‘The body was discovered on the shore in Bosham.

‘The family of missing 42-year-old Joanna Orpin have been informed of the discovery.

‘Formal identification procedures are still ongoing.’

Officers discovered the body, which police believe may have been washed ashore by the tide at around 4.40pm on Saturday.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

Rescue teams from Portsmouth and Selsey were called to the scene.
