Body found in sea off Isle of Wight

Lifeboatmen have recovered the body of a man from the sea off the Isleof Wight.

Bembridge RNLI was called after the discovery of the body by the crew of a fishing boatlast night two miles off Bembridge Ledge.

Hampshire Police launched an investigation, saying the death was “unexplained”.A A A police statement said: “The body of a man has been recovered this evening, Sunday April 24, by the Bembridge Lifeboat after being spotted in the English Channel off the Isle of Wight by a fishing vessel.

“Police were alerted to the discovery about 5.50pm.

“Officers are in the early stages of an investigation into the death which at this stage is unexplained.”
