ONE of the major roads in Hampshire has been closed following a '˜serious incident' this morning.

Emergency services have shut off part of the M27 westbound, near junction 9 at Whiteley.

It comes amid unconfirmed reports that a man has fallen from a bridge.

Paramedics and police are currently at the scene.

South Central Ambulance Service has since tweeted warning motorists to expect delays while paramedics treat ‘one patient’.

Highways England has since tweeted that an air ambulance is in attendance.

The agency said: ‘#M27 incident at J9, Air Ambulance has been deployed... traffic being held... we’ll update as soon as we can.’
