Eyewitnesses said a car crashed into the entrance area of the shop.

Pete Hamilton, of nearby Bramshott Road, Southsea, said: ‘I saw a couple of fire engines, several police cars and ambulances turn up on the scene.

‘There was a fire crew trying to get a couple of people out of the car.

‘From what I could see, the car had gone straight into the front door.

‘It looked like there was a driver and a front passenger.’
