Coastguard launch appeal after kayaking equipment found in the Solent

The UK Coastguard are appealing for information after various items, including a glove, a trainer, a man over board strobe light and torches were found along the shore between Gosport and Cowes overnight and this morning.

A number of kayakers were reported out fishing last night but no-one has been reported missing.

A Coastguard helicopter, a rescue team from Hill Head Coastguard and a lifeboat from Gafirs are searching the area as a precautionary measure.

Members of the public who have any further information about the kayakers that went fishing overnight or the equipment that has been found are asked to call the UK Coastguard on 02392 552100.
