A spokesman from the fire service said that a couple of acres had been affected, and that they put out the blaze by 7pm.

Corey Honess, from Warblington, saw the fire and the emergency services.

The 23-year-old said: ‘There was a lot of smoke over the top of the trees across that whole side.

‘The flames on the right hand side were the most visible flames, although I think it was the whole way.

‘Apart from the flashing lights from the fire service vehicles, I couldn’t see a lot else.’
