Cyclist taken to hospital with head injury after collision with car in Waterlooville

A cyclist was taken to hospital with a head injury after a crash in Waterlooville last night.

A car and a cyclist collided on the roundabout on Hulbert Road, at the junction of Frendstaple Road and Tempest Avenue, at about 5.20pm.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said the cyclist suffered a head injury and back injury, but these were not serious.

After initial treatment at the scene the cyclist was taken to the QA Hospital.

The ambulance service sent a rapid response vehicle, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight critical care car and an ambulance to the scene.

The incident caused major rush-hour delays for drivers, with traffic queuing back onto Junction 3 of the A3(M).

Hulbert Road was shut westbound while emergency services attended the incident.
