Fire crews rush out after smoke spotted in Portsmouth flat - turns out to be steam
People living in a Portsmouth block of flats got an unwelcome wake-up call this morning when fire crews arrived in their road - but it turned out to be a false alarm.
Crews from Portchester, Southsea and Cosham stations received a report of smoke coming from a flat in Victoria Road North shortly after 6.15am.
But when they arrived the firefighters were surprised to find it was steam, rather than smoke from a fire, in the flat.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the call-out was a false alarm and said crews left the scene about 6.35am.
