Firefighters put out fire at Gosport fort
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a derelict fort this afternoon to put out wood set on fire in an arson attack.
Officers from Gosport Fire and Rescue responded to an incident at Fort Gilkicker, in Military Road today.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘We were called to a scene inside Fort Gilkicker today around 4pm.
‘Wood was burning, which we put out in the sea.
‘It has been put back as malicious.’
As reported by The News, plans are ongoing to convert the fort into 26 luxury homes.
