Firefighters rushed to Southampton Airport after plane failed to deploy landing gear

FIREFIGHTERS rushed to an airport after an aircraft failed to deploy its landing gear.

Fire crews from Portchester and Cosham were called to Southampton Airport in Eastleigh at 6.41pm on Friday.

Despite the fears about the aircraft, the pilot managed to activate the landing gear naturally and all 66 passengers and four crew members disembarked safely and uninjured.’

A spokesperson for Eastleigh fire station said that the aircraft had suffered a hydraulic failure with the landing gear.

Fire crews stood down at 8pm.
