Floral tributes left for A32 accident victim Daniel Stone

THE family of Daniel Stone have paid loving tribute to a music-lover who ‘lived life to the full’.

Daniel, 25, was riding his Suzuki 250 north along Gosport Road on Friday when he was run over by a lorry after hitting the central reservation and falling from his bike.

Emergency services fought valiantly to save his life.

However, in spite of their efforts, the biker’s injuries were too severe to recover from and he died at the scene.

Now his heartbroken family has paid a touching tribute to Daniel – affectionately known as ‘Daniel Son’ by his loved ones and friends.

In a statement released by police, they said: ‘Daniel was a local lad who grew up in the Gosport area and lived life to the full.

‘He was passionate about his music and bikes and will be missed by his many friends.’

Daniel, of Mumby Road, had picked up his black Suzuki only a month before Friday’s accident.

Posting on Facebook, friends described the 25-year-old as ‘really funny’ and ‘just a lovely guy’.

Readers on The News’s Facebook page also offered their condolences.

Julia Hymers said: ‘My heart aches for this family – I lost my son a few weeks ago and the depth of grief is beyond comprehension – I feel so desperately sorry for you all.

‘My thoughts are also with the lorry driver – he must be traumatised by this tragedy.’

Nichola Bryce added: ‘My thoughts are with his family and friends, the lorry driver and all those who were at the scene.

‘This happened just along from my home and the dedication and professionalism of our emergency services was second-to-none throughout.’

Daniel’s death was the second in the space of two months on the road, which has been branded ‘deadly’ by councillors and MPs.

It comes despite ongoing efforts by police to improve road safety among bikers.

The incident has led to calls from Fareham MP Suella Fernandes to step up awareness campaigns.

Witnesses to the Friday’s crash should call the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit on 101, quoting Operation Honeydew, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Daniel leaves behind his parents; Phil and Michelle, and his brothers and sisters; Paris, Kial, Harry, Bluebell, Jimmy and Fred.
