The accident happened in New Milton in the New Forest, and road police tweeted a picture of a car which had come off the road and ended up in a ditch.

Officers tweeted: ‘More cold weather has led to more incidents like this one in New Milton, where a gentleman struck black ice. Luckily, no-one was injured. #LetsBeCarefulOutThere.’

Yesterday road policing officers said they had to attend ‘numerous’ collisions across the county because of the frosty morning leading to slippery roads.
