Large '˜sinkhole' opens up in busy Fareham street

A '˜SINKHOLE' has opened up in a busy Fareham road after a water main burst.

Police and Portsmouth Water are currently at the scene on Bishopsfield Road in Fareham dealing with the ‘large hole’ as traffic around the surrounding area is set to be delayed.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire County Council says: ‘The hole in the road is due to a burst sink main and Portsmouth Water are dealing with it.’

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 2.30pm to reports of a large hole in the middle of Bishopsfield Road.

‘Portsmouth Water are on scene and dealing with it.’
