Line trespass leads to rail chaos

Thousands of passengers on Portsmouth-London trains were delayed because of a trespasser on the line at Petersfield

The incident yesterday evening led to rail passengers on some of the country’s busiest routes suffering travel chaos.

South West Trains services to and from London Waterloo were cancelled or delayed by over an hour because of the incident at Petersfield.

Travellers were left stranded on scores of stations between London and Surrey and Hampshire.
