A WOMAN in her 60s has sustained a serious head injury after a collision with a car in Portsmouth.
Police were called to London Road in North End after an accident between a car and pedestrian after which the car left the scene.
An air ambulance, rapid response vehicle, road ambulance and critical care car were sent to the scene after several 999 calls.
A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service: ‘We received multiple 999 calls around 2.20pm with the callers reporting a collision between a car and a pedestrian outside the 99p Store on London Road.
‘The pedestrian was a female in her 60s who had sustained a serious head injury, as well as other injuries.

‘After initial treatment at the scene the patient was then taken by road to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton by road, with the helicopter’s medical team travelling in the ambulance.’
Police located the car involved, a Honda Insight, and a 20-year-old man has since been arrested.
