Major search launched after reports of person falling into Portsmouth creek
AN EXTENSIVE search was carried out at a creek last night after reports of a person falling in the water.
The police received reports that someone might have fallen into Ports Creek, Hilsea, at about 7.30pm.
The coastguard was sent out.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: ‘We tasked both lifeboats and two rescue teams.
‘The police also sent a helicopter and their main unit.
‘The area was thoroughly searched with nothing found.
‘The police were happy to stand down.’
