Man dies following serious crash on M27 between Fareham and Portsmouth

The 20-year-old from Bitterne, Southampton, died on Wednesday as a result of the injuries he suffered during a collision on the M27 three days before.

He was the backseat passenger of a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was travelling eastbound on the M27 between Fareham and Portsmouth when it was involved in a collision at around 11.15pm.

The car, which had three people inside, came to a stop on its roof.

The 20-year-old driver of the car suffered serious injuries and he was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital. He has since been discharged.

A 19-year-old man, who was the front seat passenger, was cut free from the vehicle by our colleagues at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a serious head injury.

His condition is currently described as stable.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident or the blue Corsa prior to the collision.
