Man who died in Clanfield car crash named by police

Police have named the man who died after his van hit a tree in Clanfield last week.

George Ayres, 38, died in the crash on Old Mill Lane on the evening of October 25.

Mr Ayres, from Waterlooville, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Ford Transit van left the road.

Police were called to the scene at 7.20pm. Firefighters from Waterlooville and Horndean also attended the crash site but there was nothing they could do to save the driver.
