Man's body found after MoD police called to incident in Portsmouth Harbour

A MAN'S body has been recovered from Portsmouth Harbour.

Hampshire and Ministry of Defence police officers were called at 7.16am after the body was found in the water close to Haslar Wall, Gosport. 

Police have said the man has been identified as a 58-year-old from Southsea. His next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The incident comes five days after a man jumped from a Wightlink ferry service into Portsmouth Harbour on Wednesday morning. 

However, the coastguard called off the search for him later that day '“ designating him as a missing person.

A lifeboat from the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service was also called to assist the operation this morning, alongside the Hill Head coastguard.Â
