Police and ambulance called as bus narrowly avoids hitting van

TWO PASSENGERS were hurt when the bus they were travelling on was involved in a near-miss.

The Solent service was travelling along Portsmouth Road in Cosham, and forced to brake sharply after a van pulled out from the junction near McDonald’s.

The bus swerved as the driver attempted to avoid a collision, witnesses said.

An ambulance was called to the scene at 9.46am.

Paramedics completed a thorough check of all the passengers.

A spokeswoman from South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We sent an ambulance to the scene.

‘Nobody was badly injured and no-one needed to be taken to hospital.’

Police were called to the scene and took statements from individuals, including the driver of the van. Nobody was arrested.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 9.50am regarding a collision with a bus and a van outside McDonald’s in Cosham where two people received minor injuries.’

Neither vehicle were damaged and there was no traffic disturbance, shortly after the bus resumed its journey.
