Mr Ifould, 55, of Hawke Close, Andover, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo skip loader, a 44-year-old man from Hayling Island, sustained minor injuries and was treated at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

The crash saw the A27 closed in both directions for several hours, with every road around and through Chichester at a complete standstill until later that evening.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision, and in particular is asking for people who has any dash-cam footage to come forward as officers continue to investigate.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact the Sussex Serious Collision Investigation Unit at [email protected], or telephone 101, quoting Operation Anglican.
