Police probe after motorist spits in the face of female cyclist in Portsmouth

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a driver spat in the face of a cyclist in Portsmouth.

The assault happened following a minor collision at the junction of Delemer Road and Fawcett Road, in Southsea, involving a black Ford Mondeo and a female cyclist.

The male driver pulled over, got out of his car and spat in her face before driving off.

The incident happened between 2.30pm and 3pm on Friday, June 3.

Police have only just released details.

The driver was white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5ft 10ins tall and has dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and shorts.

Police Staff Investigator Hannah Hamper said: ‘We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this assault on this female cyclist.

‘We particularly want to speak to a female driver of a beige Fiat 500 who witnessed the assault and spoke to the victim after the incident.’
