Power cut leads to train delays in Portsmouth

A POWER cut at Portsmouth and Southsea station has led to cancellations and delays for train commuters.

The problem started shortly after 6am this morning when the electrical supply to a set of sidings developed a fault, leaving two sets of carriages which were parked there stranded.

A South West Trains spokesman said: ‘A number of trains have been cancelled.

‘Services running between Portsmouth and Waterloo via Guildford are expected to be busier than normal.

‘Our response staff on site have now located the fault, and we are waiting for spare parts to be delivered to site before carrying out a repair.

‘We are sorry for any delay to your journey this morning.’

Disruptions are expected to continue until midday.
