Rail company prepares for conductors' strike
DETAILS of restricted rail timetables have been released for a planned RMT train conductors' strike scheduled for next week.
Southern Railway will cut services by 40 per cent from its normal timetable from Monday to Friday, August 12 inclusive.
Services are likely to start at about 7am and finish much earlier than usual at 6pm if the issue is not resolved at Acas today, and some routes will be scrapped completely during the period. RMT must call off the strike by Thursday afternoon if Southern Railway are to avoid a strike timetable.
Stations are set to provide extra staff on days of the strike who will give passengers information about how to reach their destination using alternative routes and transport. Revised timetables will resume across the Southern network three weeks after the strike concludes.
