Samaritans campaign is launched at Havant railway station

A NEW awareness campaign aims to encourage rail users to look out for fellow passengers showing signs of being in distress.

Samaritans volunteers from Portsmouth and East Hampshire will be at Havant Railway Station today between 2pm and 9pm talking to travellers and enlisting support for their ‘We Listen’ campaign.

Mary Noble, branch director, said: ‘Life’s pressures can build and sometimes you feel like you can no longer just put on a brave face.

‘Samaritans volunteers make time for you and really listen to you, because simply being listened to can help you put into words what’s really going on in your life and help you find a way through.

‘Anyone can talk to Samaritans for free from any phone, email us, text us or come into our branch and chat face to face. But sometimes when you stand there feeling alone having someone nearby who can point you in our direction helps.

The journey to finding a way through can start.’

Other stations will be visited this year.
