Sick worker rescued from hospice roof

A MAN had to be rescued from a roof with the help of an aerial platform after he was taken ill while at work.

The construction worker was on a building about 10m high at the Rowans Hospice, in Purbrook Heath Road, at 11.10am yesterday.

South Central Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, plus a co-responder and officer at 11.11am.

Fire crews from Southsea fire station were also called to assist the man, believed to be in his 40s, by using their aerial platform ladder.

The man was taken down and then taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital by ambulance. The incident was over by 11.45am.
