Smoke in the air in Southsea was because of fire exercises

FIREFIGHTERS assured residents smoke in the air was not because of a blaze.

Crews at Southsea Fire Station took to Twitter on Thursday to dispel fears smoke in the area was because of a fire, as it was part of a training exercise.

It followed a number of calls to the station.
