South Western Railway apologises for disruption

SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) have apologised to customers for delays and cancellations to services across the weekend and having to endure ‘warm conditions’ due to air conditioning systems ‘struggling’ to cope.

A number of routes in and out of Portsmouth were affected by the disruption.

SWR have said the delays were caused by ‘speed restrictions due to the high temperatures’, ‘train faults’ and a ‘number of incidents’.

A spokesperson said: ‘We are very sorry for the disruption to services on Saturday 29 June. Rail infrastructure issues disrupted services and a speed restriction was imposed across the network due to high temperatures.’
