Tributes paid to dad who died in M3 tragedy

Tributes have been paid to a father-of-two killed when he got out of his car after being involved in a crash on a Hampshire motorway.

Tony Smith, 37, was the driver of a Mitsubushi ASX 4 which was involved in the collision between junction 8 and 9 of the M3 on Monday.

His car was in collision with a Skoda Superb just after 6.30am, which resulted in him getting out of his vehicle.

It was at this point he was struck by a third vehicle, a Citroen Berlingo.

Mr Smith, of Firtree Way, Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have paid tribute to him.

They said: “Tony was a loving son, brother, father and friend, who was always happy to help others when they were in need.

“You could always find Tony is a coffee shop, as he loved his coffee and he always loved going to restaurants to eat all his favourite foods.

“He will be terribly missed by all his family, friends and work mates.

“In loving memory of one of the best men.”

Investigations into the collision are ongoing and any witnesses who have yet to speak to police are asked to come forward.
