Unexploded mine dredged up in Portsmouth Harbour

An unexploded mine was dredged up in Portsmouth Harbour today.

Bomb disposal teams were due to blow up the device in the Solent after it was discovered by workers dredging the harbour to prepare for the navy’s new aircraft carriers.

The device was unearthed outside shipping lanes and did not affect ferry traffic or lead to shoreside evacuations, as happened when devices were discovered last year.
